About

A firm built around how a practice actually runs.

Brenner Medical Management runs billing and practice management for medical practices across the Gulf Coast. The firm exists because most billing companies don't understand the inside of a medical office — and the practices that hire them pay for it every month.

The story

Why we started this.

Mike Brenner spent 25 years operating multi-million-dollar small businesses before founding Brenner Medical Management in 2021. Most of that career was in automotive, where he ran dealerships at the principal level and designed training programs at the corporate level — including roles as General Sales Manager at Pohanka Acura (the #1 Acura dealership in the United States), Director of Financial Services at Lindsay Lexus of Alexandria (where he took the department from below 200th nationally to 10th in extended service policy sales), and Corporate Training Director at Matt Bowers Auto Group, where he built sales, finance, and service-writer training programs across the group's stores. Across his career, he authored training manuals at multiple dealerships and trained managers who went on to become leaders across the automotive industry.

He started Brenner Medical Management because the practices he knew personally — friends, family, doctors he'd worked with — were being underserved by billing companies that didn't understand back-office operations, and by practice consultants who'd never sat in an operator's chair. The pattern was always the same: a practice signs with a national billing firm; six months in, denials stop getting worked; twelve months in, the rep changes; eighteen months in, AR is 90+ days deep and nobody can explain why. On the management side, the story rhymes — one-sided vendor contracts, compliance handled in a panic, financials that show up late and incomplete.

Mike's bet behind Brenner is simple. Medical practices are small businesses with high stakes and unusually complicated revenue mechanics. They deserve a firm that takes both halves seriously — the billing rigor and the operating discipline — and that's run by someone who's actually been responsible for the whole P&L.

Different widgets. Same job. The phoenix in our mark, set inside a fleur-de-lis, isn't decorative — it's a reminder of where Mike's from and what we do for practices that come to us with their AR on fire or their operations in disarray.

How we operate

A few things that are different about working with us.

01

You get a person

Not a ticket queue. The same account lead from kickoff through year five, with backup so nothing depends on a single point of failure.

02

We say no to scale

We cap our client list deliberately. Growth doesn't matter if the existing accounts stop getting the attention that made them work in the first place.

03

Reporting that reads like English

Monthly close-out comes with a written commentary on what moved and why. You shouldn't need a finance degree to understand your own AR.

04

HIPAA is the floor

BAAs in place with every client. PHI handled per the rules, every time. We don't treat HIPAA as marketing — we treat it as the price of admission.

05

We work in your stack

We plug into the EHR and practice management systems you already run, including the major ophthalmology-specific platforms. No rip-and-replace requirement.

06

We tell you when we're wrong

If we missed a denial pattern, we say so. If a code we used got challenged, we own it and fix it. The point isn't to look perfect — it's to actually be good.

Leadership

Who you'll actually be talking to.

What we believe

Good billing is slow, careful, repeatable work. The firms that pretend otherwise are the ones costing you money.
